Rachel Bertsche is a web producer at Oprah.com and a journalist in Chicago. Rachel worked at O, The Oprah Magazine for a little less than three years—climbing the ladder from editorial assistant to assistant editor to associate editor—before leaving New York for the Midwest. In addition to O, she has written for publications including Marie Claire, Every Day with Rachael Ray, Teen Vogue, Outside, Fitness, More, Women's Health, Chicago Magazine, San Francisco Magazine, Ocean Drive and Field and Stream. Her interview with Katey Sagal, aka Peg Bundy, recently reached #1 on CNN.com's list of most-viewed stories of the day (her Q&A with Vince Vaughn also reached the top 10). Rachel's work has been included in the last three O, The Oprah Magazine Annual Anthologies, and she served as editorial assistant on the inaugural O Annual. Rachel loves diving into new subjects and has written about everything from porn films to shark skin. She has interviewed a wide range of politicians and celebrities, a Nobel Peace Prize winner and plenty of Oscar winners, including Al Gore, Yoko Ono, Hilary Swank, Tilda Swinton, Queen Latifah, James Cameron, Stephenie Meyer, Taylor Swift and Vince Vaughn. Rachel graduated from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, where she was the student newspaper’s resident sex columnist.
Rachel’s first book, MWF Seeking BFF, chronicling the author's search for a new best friend after she moves to Chicago for love, will be published by Ballantine (a Random House imprint) sometime in 2012.
